Nominations for the 2020 CGIA Awards Extended

Due to the current COVID-19 situation, GIS has taken on a more prominent role within many organizations and has greatly increased the public’s awareness and access to current information.  It is important to recognize those who have worked so hard to make this possible.  In response to current circumstances, the nominations for the 2020 CGIA awards have been extended. Awards are open to any person in the State of California, and will be announced during the Esri User Conference (UC), July 13-15th: https://www.esri.com/en-us/about/events/uc/overview.

All award winners receive a FREE 1-year membership to CGIA.

CGIA will be seeking nominations for outstanding individuals and organizations in the following categories:

  • Exemplary use of GIS: Granted for outstanding application of GIS technology representing innovative, elegant, or creative techniques for analysis, mapping, data management or automation.  The technology may be transparent to the end user and is not required to display map output.
  • Outstanding Geospatial Web Application: Granted to the outstanding integration of GIS and web technologies (online mapping, dashboards and data collection) demonstrating excellence in aesthetic presentation, functionality, ease of use, and overall user experience.
  • Excellence in GIS Teaching: Granted to formal educators, trainers, and mentors in GIS that display extraordinary approach, contribution, development or commitment to GIS education in California.
  • Student Award: Granted to the student whose project, application or tool best demonstrates innovation in the use of GIS technology.
