Constituencies consist of groups of individuals that share common business requirements. Under the structure of the Council Charter, constituencies provide the representative structure for the Council’s Executive Committee. There are twelve constituencies recognized under the Charter:
- State Government
- Federal Government
- County Government
- City Government
- Tribal Government
- Regional Government and Regional GIS Councils
- Special Districts
- Education
- Private Industry
- Professional Associations
- Non-profit Organizations
- Public and Private Utilities
The Council’s Executive Committee comprises one representative from each constituency, chosen by the members of that constituency. Individuals joining the GIS Council must register the constituency to which they belong.
