The Pacific Southwest Region of ASPRS, the American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing, invites all interested to participate in this FREE event.
RS Fire 2021 Symposium is a “virtual 3-part series” discussing wildland fires in California, happening on
Monday, Nov. 1 @ 10 AM – 12 PM
Monday, Nov. 8 @ 10 AM – 12 PM
Monday, Nov. 15 @ 10 AM – 12 PM
Trends have shown that wildland fire seasons are growing longer and fires are continuing to increase in total area and size. Simultaneously, remote sensing technologies continue to advance and are being used more and more to aid emergency responders. The American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ASPRS) Pacific Southwest (PSW) Region invites you to participate in its next series that aims to explore the myriad ways that remote sensing can support wildfire preparedness, active incidents, and future management.
Intended Outcome:
- Bring the remote sensing and wildland fire communities together
- Discuss current operational wildland firefighting tactics and related remote sensing technologies, including existing workflows, incremental improvements, and leading-edge research and technologies
- Better educate community members regarding available remote sensing data sources, offerings, and capabilities
- Enable discussions that lead to the creation of more usable remote sensing products for use before, during, and after wildfires, through networking opportunities, panel discussions, and brokered discussions
This event is free to the public. Donations or sponsorships are most welcome in order to provide support to the Pacific Southwest ASPRS Student Scholarship Fund. Last year, they awarded three (3) $1000 scholarships to students in the remote sensing industry. From these donations they are also offering to pay for new students’ first year membership with ASPRS.
