Rural areas of California face unique challenges in comparison to their urban counterparts. In this conversation we will talk with Kelly Sheen, Director of the Trinity County Resource Conservation District, and Jackie Froeming, a GIS Specialist with Modoc County. Kelly will discuss some of the ways GIS is supporting community wildfire resilience, recreation enhancement, regulation of marijuana growers, and support of the dispersed population in this mountainous region. Jackie will give some background on Modoc County, among the most remote and lightly populated counties in California. Economic challenges and a shrinking population present resource challenges when it comes to GIS implementation.
This event will be recorded and posted on the CGIA website afterwards. To join this conversation, please use this link to register and receive the Zoom connection information. Questions about this event may be directed to chair@cgia.org.
