Jochen Albrecht, Ph.D, GISP

Dr. Jochen Albrecht, GISP, is a professor for computational and theoretical geography at Hunter College, City University of New York. Contrary to the job title, he is eminently interested in the use of GIS is the real world. He has served on the Board of URISA International and the GIS Certification Institute (GISCI), whose elected president he is since 2022.

Jochen's contribution to this webinar will be a brief overview of the current GISP certification process and an outlook onto a new GISCI initiative to create a national GIS exam for graduating students from GIS programs at colleges and universities.

Nick Franchino, AICP, GISP

Nick Franchino serves as the GIS Manager at the Los Angeles County Department of Regional Planning, boasting an extensive tenure exceeding 25 years within the County. In his role, he oversees the GIS operations for an agency responsible for the management of land use, zoning, and code enforcement in the unincorporated areas of Los Angeles County.

Since 2014, Nick has held the esteemed designation of Geographic Information Systems Professional (GISP). Moreover, he has been a certified planner with the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) since 2001, further solidifying his expertise and commitment to the field of planning and GIS.
