Since its founding in 2010, the Spatial Sciences Institute has been the hub of geospatial education and research at the University of Southern California. Housed in the USC Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences, SSI collaborates with faculty and researchers across the university as well as with industry leaders and scholars around the world in its academic programs and research initiatives.
Our 18 undergraduate, masters, and doctoral programs develop the next generation of spatial thinkers, empowering them with capabilities to help address global challenges. Members of our internationally recognized faculty engage students in their research projects that contribute to the rapidly evolving body of geospatial knowledge in cross-cutting and interdisciplinary approaches.
We focus on:
- spatial data science;
- environmental sustainability;
- human health and well-being;
- safe and secure communities; and
- decision-making informed by GIS and scientific techniques.
SSI is proud to collaborate with CGIA in the annual presentation of the virtual Los Angeles Geospatial Summit on Friday, February 26, 2021, our one-day conference that brings together geospatial professionals, faculty, and students. Please join us at the CGIA member discounted rate.
