None of these tools include CA Tribal Allotment Lands - why is that? Can this be address? 00:54:23 CGIA host - Jane: @Donna Miranda-Begay do you think this is a problem with the US Census not capturing the data on people living on the Tribal Allotment lands? 00:56:07 Donna Miranda-Begay: Yes.. data collection for U.S. Census is certainly a challenge for allotment communities. A combination of trust, awareness, and effort - needs to be looked at. In CA - we have over 300+ allotments, I wonder what stats we have for these allotments (under and non served communities). 01:01:58 Donna Miranda-Begay: On our allotment - we call our land "the rez", BIA calls us "allotees", in CA State we are "CA Native Americans" - non-federally recognized, my family texts "NDN" for talking about our tribal family events or activities. On our allotment - we are "not served" community. 01:06:11 Annette Narzynski (she/her): Our department documents seem to mostly use underserved or disadvantaged communities 01:06:43 Sheila Steinberg: Thank you Annette! 01:10:45 Alejandra Cervantes: So glad I joined!
