I would like to personally invite all of you to visit CA Dept. of Conservation\u2019s new GIS data and maps site: DOC Maps<\/p>\n
https:\/\/maps.conservation.ca.gov<\/a><\/p>\n With DOC Maps we\u2019re trying to create more than just another listing of GIS data. Our goal is to give all of our users access to our information whether they want easy access to focused web applications, more general online maps, data downloads, or map services. \u00a0And, we want to do this while putting the data into context. Each of the datasets has descriptive content and metadata. Most data are also available through web maps that provide support for interpreting the information.<\/p>\n As we open this site for access, it still has a few rough corners. That\u2019s intentional. Put simply, it felt like it was time to get DOC Maps out and into the public eye and to ask you for direction. We feel that DOC Maps provides much needed easier access to GIS our content. We also hope that our first attempt at \u201cbundling\u201d some of these data sets into curated collections, or subject areas, is useful to you. We welcome feedback on what works, what doesn\u2019t, and how it can be more useful to you.<\/p>\n We\u2019ve got a few more features coming in the next few weeks, and some data sets that are in the final stages of preparation before being added.
