“The U.S. Department of Labor Geospatial Technology Competency Model is getting ready for the next round of updates\/revisions. Your input is hugely valuable in helping to define which professional and technical competencies are crucial to a successful GIS employee. While most of us are not directly tied to federal hiring standards, these competencies certainly do trickle down to how Geospatial training is structured in Colleges and Universities, as well as to how job announcements are crafted across the industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In collaboration with the US Department of Labor, the National Geospatial Technology Center<\/a> is updating the Geospatial Technology Competency Model (GTCM)<\/a>. We are conducting this evaluation to determine what modifications are needed for the existing competency model.<\/p>\n\n\n\n A survey for each Tier will assess what the geospatial industry view as the most relevant existing competencies, irrelevant competencies, and emerging competencies.
