Nebert National Spatial Data Infrastructure Champion of the Year Award"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>\n\nRelease Date:&nbsp;AUGUST 6, 2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Calling for nominations to honor outstanding accomplishments to the spatial data infrastructure mission of the Department of Interior.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.fgdc.gov\/\">Federal Geographic Data Committee<\/a>&nbsp;is now accepting nominations for the Doug&nbsp;D. Nebert National Spatial Data Infrastructure Champion of the Year Award. Nebert was a recognized national and international leader in the establishment of spatial data infrastructures, a technical visionary, as well as a respected colleague.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To commemorate Nebert\u2019s varied contributions to and passions for our nation\u2019s geography and cartography, the FGDC is accepting nominations for the newly established award.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis award commemorates Doug\u2019s influence in promoting the vision of the NSDI,\u201d said Ivan DeLoatch, executive director of the FGDC. \u201cThis is a unique opportunity to honor significant contributions to an individual or group of individuals that have furthered the goal of making integrated data easily available to enhance the understanding of our physical and cultural world.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Eligibility<\/strong>: The nominations must recognize an individual or a team representing federal, state, tribal, regional, and\/or local government, academia, or a nonprofit or professional organization that has developed an outstanding, innovative and operational tool, application or service that is used by multiple organizations and furthers the vision of the NSDI. The nominee must be a U.S. citizen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Nomination Process<\/strong>: Each nomination package shall be submitted in electronic form through the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.fgdc.gov\/nebertaward\">award website<\/a>&nbsp;and include a justification and related nomination information.
