The CGIA Board of Directors includes nineteen officers, including four from each of the following constituencies:
- Federal, State, and Tribal Government agencies
- Local government agencies (including County and City government, Councils of Government, Regional Associations of Government, and Special Districts)
- Institutions of Higher Learning, Professional Societies, and Not-for-Profit Organizations
- Private Sector companies
These constituencies have been designed to maintain diversity of interests across the California GIS community. In addition, a further two officer positions are formed from the membership at large, and one final position is occupied by the Chair of the CGIA Community Forum.
In addition to these positions, the Board consists of two non-voting positions, the Treasurer and Secretary, as well as a Chair, and a Vice Chair, who automatically becomes the Chair for the next fiscal year.
