CalGIS/GIS-Pro and Nominations for URISA Exemplary Systems in Government Award

Dear California GIS Colleagues:

In my capacity as conference Co-Chair for CalGIS/GIS-Pro, I wanted to share a few items with you all.

  • As you may or may not realize, GIS-Pro (The URISA International GIS Conference) is combining with our State CalGIS Conference this October 9-12 in Palm Springs. GIS-Pro has not been held in California for about a decade, so this is a unique opportunity to interact not only with your California GIS colleagues, but also the broader GIS community.
  • The program for the conference is now LIVE at: https://gisprocalgis2018.sched.com/ and registration will be opening soon (I believe next week). Even if you didn’t submit a presentation, I invite you to attend for a great program, including a fantastic array of workshops (included at no additional cost).
  • Because GIS-Pro is part of the mix, that means URISA will be holding its awards ceremony at the conference (here in our home state) so I’d REALLY like to see one of our home state agencies win a 2018 URISA Exemplary Systems in Government Award. Details and nomination applications are due by June 4th, available at: http://www.urisa.org/awards/exemplary-systems-in-government/

I hope to see many of you (and your staff, colleges and friends) in Palm Springs this October!

Thanks!

Steve
